Bretagne
Known as “Brittany” in English, Bretagne is France’s northwestern region, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, English Channel, Normandy region, and Pays de la Loire region.
Bretagne has a distinct heritage in France, with a lot of Medieval conflict involving France and England occurring in the region’s countryside. The Breton language is still spoken by pockets of the population, and overall there is a very strong pride in the regional identity here.
Rennes is the capital city of Bretagne, while other small towns and castles dot the countryside. The Crozon Peninsula, a stretch of coast that includes rugged cliffs, beautiful beaches, and turquoise waters, is considered one of the prettiest landscapes in France.
